Autumn In Scotland Photography Workshop 2023

Have you always wanted to capture the iconic Scottish Landscapes with the vibrant colours that Autumn Brings, But have never been sure where to go?

On this Autumn In Scotland Photography workshop, we will visit some of Scotland's finest Woodlands, Rivers, Waterfalls, Lochs, Castles and Mountains. With one purpose, to capture the spectacular arrays of colours that Autumn brings to Scotland and the Trossachs National Park.

During this workshop I will show you how I plan my locations. The camera skills I use to take better images. And processing skills I use in Lightroom.

I will show you how I use LEE Filters to dramatically help gain proper exposure of images first time. Along with tips on how to create creative long exposures and fine art works.

This is a relatively easy workshop, for people of all levels of photography. Most locations having easy access from the side of the road and require little walking over good hill trails. However, a couple of locations will require an amount of walking and accents of upwards to 450 metres.

  • Camera Bag

I recommend using a good quality backpack style bag, it needs to be big enough to hold all your equipment safely, but also be comfortable whilst carrying over rough ground.

    Tripod

A good quality tripod is essential for landscape photography. It helps keep everything steady and aids getting sharp images. It is however a balance between having enough weight to support the camera steady in high winds and not to much weight that you find it hard to carry. I personally use a carbon fibre travel tripod that has a hook under the camera pole and then use my bag as the additional weight. It has both its advantages and disadvantages, but with all things it down to personal choice.on text goes here

  • Recommended Camera Equipment Continued

    Cameras And Lenses

Cameras and Lenses are personal choice, I recommend gear that has an element of protection against the elements as lenses can soon fog up with shifts in temperature and humidity. I personally use just three lenses a 24 - 70 mm and a 70 - 200 mm and a 60 mm macro this gives me a vast range for most landscape shots.

    Filters And Accessories

For landscape photography filters are a must especially graduated       neutral density and polarisers, they help correct uneven exposures and remove unwanted glare. They can also help with creative effects such as long exposures. My choice in filters are LEE Filters. They are optically correct and very durable.

The last things to think about are batteries (plenty of them) lens cloths, storage cards and ways to backup your images and a release cable for your camera.

  • The Meeting place for the workshop is at the , Balnearn House B&B, Aberfeldy, Scotland for 12:00 pm on the date specified. By meeting this early it gives us time to find our rooms then head out for an evening shoot.

With the time of the year being winter, a good sturdy pair of waterproof boots are necessary. Along with warm undergarments good waterproof jacket and trousers are essential. Hats and gloves are also vital to keep the cold out. Pairs of walking sticks are also very handy along with a good head torch.

It is also a condition of booking on our workshops that you are insured against cancellation and both personal accidents and medical risks including cover for any involved activities whilst on the workshop.

Insurance cover for all camera gear and computer equipment is also highly recommended.
